Hard Choices
This past Thursday I waited for hours for the possibility to meet Hillary Clinton; I wasn’t the only one. “Ready for Hillary” and “Hillary for President” were the most said phrases throughout the day. My favorite phrase & pin was, “I want to see Clinton in the White House again.” Multiple news vans, news helicopters, reporters, bloggers, etc. were present in addition to political supporters. Many political conversations were alive and heated. Some individuals began to read Hard Choices, others went to grab some food & coffee, while the remaining individuals debated what they would tell the former First Lady and more recently former Secretary of State.
After hours of waiting, we (my friend and I) managed to reach the inside of Barnes & Noble. The line was hundreds of people long, when I arrived in the morning and people were still arriving and waiting to buy the book in order to meet Hillary Clinton at 1PM. Security inside was strict, everyone was searched with a metal detector and there were Secret Service and police officers all over the building.
I managed to take one picture, not the greatest picture of Hillary Clinton, but a picture nonetheless. Strict guidelines were in place and we had to quickly snap a picture before Secret Service asked/told us to put our phones away. At this point I can’t remember the words I exchanged with the 67th Secretary of State, but I exchange a few words with her and shook her hand. It may not sound like much, but it made my day and many others. I can say I met Hillary Clinton!
